ConvenientMD Coronavirus Policy and Procedure - ConvenientMD

ConvenientMD Coronavirus Policy and Procedure

As per CDC guidelines, ConvenientMD is only performing COVID-19 (coronavirus) testing on those patients at high risk for COVID-19 infection and health care professionals. This is due to world-wide shortages of COVID-19 tests and personal protective equipment (PPE) required to obtain the sample. We are actively working to secure more COVID-19 tests and PPE in all ConvenientMD clinics.

Please note that all ConvenientMD locations are following strict protocols to keep patients and team members safe and healthy, and the clinics clean and sanitary. Patients in need of medical care, including those who are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 can feel safe visiting any ConvenientMD clinic for treatment of episodic illness and injury as normal. Help your local hospital maintain capacity for patients with emergency needs during this time by choosing ConvenientMD.

ConvenientMD Coronavirus Policy and Procedure

Last Revised Date: 3/24/2020

Effective immediately, all clinics will have signage at the front entrance requesting all patients to stop before entering, and review the following symptoms: cough, fever and/or shortness of breath. If ANY of these symptoms are present, the patient will be asked to take a form to complete, and return back to their vehicle. The patient is then directed to call the listed phone number once the form is complete, and remain in their vehicle. When the patient calls the front desk, the medical receptionist will ask the patient if they would like to be remotely evaluated. If the patient agrees to be remotely evaluated, they will then alert a clinical team member to begin the triage over the phone. Once phone triage is complete, a provider will speak with the patient over the phone to discuss symptoms. ConvenientMD clinical team will then go out to the patient’s vehicle for evaluation, equipped in appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and they will provide the patient with a face mask as well.

If it is determined the patient needs further treatment due to severity of illness after triage and evaluation is complete, the patient may be transported to the closest emergency department by EMS. If the patient is stable and determined to be at risk of having COVID-2019, we can now provide appropriate testing.

For All Other Patients That Present to ConvenientMD:

There will be a staff member stationed at the entrance of each clinic wearing a mask and gloves, they will ask every patient before entering our facilities: “Have you recently had a fever, cough or shortness of breath?” OR “Have you recently been quarantined?”

IF YES:

The staff member will immediately give the patient(s) a mask. They will then request the patient take a clip board and fill out the requested form in their vehicle, and call the number listed at the bottom of the paperwork once complete. When the patient calls the front desk, the medical receptionist will ask the patient if they would like to be remotely evaluated. If the patient agrees to be remotely evaluated, they will then alert the clinical team that the patient is ready for evaluation in their vehicle.

*If the patient appears short of breath, the staff member will request that a clinical team member immediately take the patient to an exam room for evaluation.

IF NO:

The staff member will take the patient’s temperature. If the patient’s temperature is below 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit they will be able to proceed with the normal check-in process. If the patient’s temperature is above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, the staff member will give the patient a mask. They will then ask the patient to take a clip board and fill out the paperwork in their vehicle, and call the number listed once complete. ConvenientMD clinical team will then go out to the patient’s vehicle for evaluation, equipped in appropriate PPE, and they will provide the patient with a face mask as well.
