ConvenientMD to Open First-Ever Co-Located Primary Care and Urgent Care Clinics in Waterville
Waterville, ME — ConvenientMD announces its first co-located healthcare facility, bringing both its award-winning urgent care services and growing primary care practice to the greater Waterville community. ConvenientMD Urgent Care and ConvenientMD Primary Care are both expected to open in late 2026.
Construction is underway on the new healthcare facility, which will occupy approximately 17,000 square feet within the former Staples building in Waterville. ConvenientMD Primary Care and ConvenientMD Urgent Care will operate as separate practices, with each location featuring distinct modern, patient-centered design tailored to its respective unique model of care.
“Expanding access to care in meaningful ways is a top priority for us,” said ConvenientMD CEO Ray Wahl. “With the launch of our first co-located Urgent Care clinic and Primary Care practice, we are responding to demand for both services in the greater Waterville area, with the intention of removing barriers to care such as long drive times for rural residents.”
ConvenientMD Urgent Care opened its first urgent care clinic in 2012 and now operates 51 clinics across Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. In addition to trusted care for sudden illnesses and injuries, the Waterville urgent care clinic will also offer on-site labs, ECGs, and X-rays for fast and accurate diagnoses. Additional services include youth sports physicals, Department of Transportation physicals, vaccinations, and employer health services. ConvenientMD Urgent Care clinics are open every day, 8:00 am-8:00 pm.
After establishing itself as a leader in urgent care, ConvenientMD expanded into primary care in 2022 to address the growing need for more accessible, relationship-centered healthcare. ConvenientMD Primary Care practices offer patients easier access to appointments, longer visits with providers, and personalized support focused on prevention, wellness, and long-term health. In addition to preventive and ongoing medical care, patient care teams help coordinate specialist referrals, medication management, and behavioral health support. ConvenientMD Primary Care currently operates practices in Bangor and Portland, Maine, as well as Exeter, Manchester, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
“Access to primary care is one of the most urgent healthcare challenges facing communities like Waterville today,” said President of Advanced Primary Care Kevin Curwick. “Our primary care model is designed specifically to address that gap by offering convenient access, integrated services, and a patient-first experience that makes it easier for people to engage in their health. We’re committed to being part of the solution and strengthening access for patients across the region.”
