ConvenientMD Primary Care Adds Virtual Behavioral Health Services for Patients

Portsmouth, NHConvenientMD Primary Care is expanding its services to include behavioral health support for primary care patients at its five primary care locations in Maine and New Hampshire, integrating these services directly into the primary care experience. “At ConvenientMD, we believe primary care is incomplete without mental health support,” said ConvenientMD Chief Medical Officer Kim Ariyabuddhiphongs, MD, MBA. “By embedding behavioral health services into our value-based Advanced Primary Care model, we can better care for the whole person.”

Through ConvenientMD’s Collaborative Care model, behavioral health specialists work virtually alongside primary care providers and care team members to provide connected, evidence-based support. The model is designed to make behavioral health care more accessible while keeping patients connected to their primary care team. This Collaborative Care model is billed to patients’ health insurance and has been extensively studied, with research demonstrating improved access to care, greater affordability and better health outcomes for patients receiving this integrated approach to behavioral health care.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker Ryan DeMoss is ConvenientMD Primary Care’s first Behavioral Health Manager. When a primary care provider identifies a patient who may benefit from behavioral health support, the patient can be connected directly with DeMoss as part of their primary care experience. He will work with each patient to develop a personalized care plan and provide evidence-based treatment and tools to improve their mental health, in close collaboration with their primary care provider.

“I look forward to providing my patients with an accessible referral option for behavioral health services,” said ConvenientMD Primary Care Medical Director Karin Doehne, MD,. “Partnering directly with behavioral health specialists like Ryan gives me confidence that my patients will receive personalized, evidence-based support while remaining connected to their primary care team.”

ConvenientMD Primary Care’s virtual behavioral health service can support patients with concerns such as anxiety and depression. It also provides support for lifestyle changes, including smoking cessation and behavioral health needs related to chronic health conditions.

ConvenientMD Primary Care currently operates practices in Exeter, Manchester and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, as well as Bangor and Portland, Maine, with a new co-located primary care and urgent care location opening later this year in Waterville, Maine.
